Pastelaria Tawny

Pastelaria Tawny

We asked for a tawny port so it looked like a communication issue when a bottle of Burmester White Port was reached down from the shelf. We were assured that we needn't worry and sure enough a tawny port emerged. It was quite turbid and brown but had an enjoyably complex sweet nutty taste. This was our first experience of a local wine that shouldn't really be called port as it wasn't produced under the control of the Institute of Port Wine.
